Student Privacy & Online Safety Policy
Effective Date: October 27, 2026
At Wild and Unstructured Learning, LLC (WAUL), we believe children learn best when they feel safe, respected, and encouraged to be themselves. We want families to feel informed, supported, and comfortable throughout their learner's online learning experience.

Our goal is to create welcoming virtual classrooms through thoughtful educator selection, clear expectations for online interactions, respect for personal information, and open communication with parents and guardians.
Our Educators
WAUL educators participate in an interview process that considers their experience, subject knowledge, teaching approach, and ability to connect with children. We value patience, professionalism, creativity, and genuine care for learners.

Educators are expected to maintain professional conduct in virtual classrooms and follow WAUL policies regarding learner privacy, communication, online safety, and appropriate interactions.

Families are encouraged to contact WAUL with questions or concerns about an educator, classroom interaction, or their learner's online experience.
Safe and Respectful Online Classrooms
We want every learner to be able to participate without fear of embarrassment, harassment, bullying, or unwanted contact.

Our classroom expectations encourage learners to:
-
Treat teachers and classmates with kindness and respect.
-
Avoid sharing home addresses, phone numbers, passwords, personal email addresses, or other private information in class.
-
Use classroom chat, video, and interactive features appropriately.
-
Respect other learners' privacy, images, voices, and creative work.
-
Avoid recording, photographing, or sharing other learners without appropriate permission.
-
Speak with a parent, guardian, teacher, or other trusted adult if something online feels uncomfortable or unsafe.
WAUL educators are expected to address inappropriate classroom behavior and bring significant safety or privacy concerns to WAUL administration.
Parent and Guardian Involvement
WAUL requires a parent or legal guardian to complete registration for all learners. Learners, including children under 13, do not independently register for WAUL classes or create their own WAUL accounts.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to remain involved in their children's online learning, particularly when younger learners need assistance with technology, hands-on activities, or navigating online classroom tools.

We welcome parent and guardian questions about classroom expectations, communication, privacy, and learner well-being.
Children's Privacy
Protecting learner personal information is an important part of online safety.

WAUL collects limited learner information during registration, including the learner's name, age, and email address when applicable. This information is provided by the parent or legal guardian rather than being collected directly from the learner during registration.

We use learner information only as reasonably necessary to provide our educational and administrative services, including class registration, class access, communication, class placement, and maintaining appropriate enrollment records.

WAUL does not sell learner personal information.

Our separate Children's Privacy & COPPA Notice provides additional information about the information we collect, how we use it, the technology providers we use, data retention, recordings, and parent and guardian rights.
Technology and Third-Party Services
Online learning requires the use of technology platforms and service providers.

WAUL uses:

Wix for our website, class registration, and payment processing.

Pencil Spaces for our online classroom environment and class recordings.

Gmail for communication with families and WAUL business operations.

These service providers may process information on WAUL's behalf when necessary to provide their services. WAUL does not authorize these providers to use learner information for purposes unrelated to providing the applicable services.

WAUL does not enable optional AI features or other features that collect or process additional learner information when those features are not necessary to provide the class or educational service.
Student Images, Recordings, and Work
Learner voices, photos, videos, participation, and original work deserve thoughtful handling.

WAUL classes may be recorded for educational and class-support purposes, including allowing learners who miss a live class to catch up on instruction.

When a class is recorded, the recording may contain learner names, voices, video, and participation.

Class recordings are stored through Pencil Spaces and are retained for 90 days, after which they are deleted.

Recordings are available only through WAUL-approved systems and are not intended for public distribution. WAUL does not intentionally publish learner recordings publicly.

Learners and families should also respect the privacy of other participants and should not independently record, screenshot, photograph, or share classroom content or other learners without appropriate permission.
Protecting Personal Information
WAUL takes reasonable steps to protect learner information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.

Access to learner information is limited to WAUL personnel and service providers who need the information to provide educational or administrative services.

We encourage families to help protect their learner's information by:
-
Keeping account passwords private.
-
Not sharing classroom access information with others.
-
Using secure devices and internet connections when possible.
-
Reminding learners not to share personal information during online classes.
-
Contacting WUL if they believe account or classroom information has been accessed improperly.
No method of transmitting or storing information online can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but WAUL works to use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information we maintain.
Parent and Guardian Privacy Rights
Parents and legal guardians may contact WAUL to:
-
Request information about the personal information we maintain about their child.
-
Request access to their child's information.
-
Request correction of inaccurate information.
-
Request deletion of their child's personal information, where applicable.
-
Ask questions about how their child's information is collected or used.
-
Ask about the third-party services that process their child's information.
-
Withdraw permission for future collection or use of information where applicable.
We may take reasonable steps to verify the identity of the person making a privacy request before providing or deleting information.
