Class Description

COMING SCHOOL YEAR 2026-27!!! Age: 6-10 years old 50 minutes/day 2 days/week Read, Write, Create! Where stories spark imagination and young writers find their voice! In this engaging, interactive class, learners explore the wonderful world of reading & writing through fresh stories, lively discussions, & creative writing activities each week. Every session is designed to help children strengthen comprehension skills, think critically, & grow into confident writers. Each week, we dive into a new, age-appropriate text together. Students learn how to uncover characters, settings, plot twists, & important details while practicing essential comprehension strategies like predicting, questioning, & making connections. Then, they use what they’ve discovered to create writing of their own! From exciting narratives & fairy tales to fascinating nonfiction, mysteries, science articles, poetry, opinion pieces, & more, learners experience a wide variety of genres that keep class fresh & inspiring. After reading, it’s time to create! Students might: * Write their own short stories or alternate endings * Create news articles or reports * Craft fairy tales or fantasy adventures * Share opinions and persuasive writing * Explore poetry, personal narratives, and creative pieces Our classes are highly interactive, discussion-based, & supportive. Every child is encouraged to share ideas, ask questions, & express themselves in a safe, welcoming environment. We meet learners at their level & provide guidance every step of the way, helping each child grow at their own pace. Because this is an ongoing class, families can join anytime — stay for a week, a month, or the entire year. With new stories and new writing challenges each week, there’s always something exciting to discover! All sessions are held through Pencil Spaces, making it easy for families to join from anywhere. Pencil Spaces is also used to post announcements, supply lists, assignments, & helpful resources, as well as to support communication between learners, families, & the teacher, keeping everyone connected & informed.
