Class Description

COMING SCHOOL YEAR 2026-27!!! Age: 14-18 years old 50 minutes/day 2 days/week Help your teen grow into a confident reader, critical thinker, and skilled writer in this engaging, year-round literacy workshop designed especially for high school learners. Each week, students dive into fresh, thought-provoking texts — including short stories, poetry, articles, historical fiction, and more — and explore them together through guided discussion and analysis. Learners practice looking beyond the surface to uncover deeper meanings, examine themes, evaluate an author’s choices, and share their perspectives in a respectful, collaborative environment. In our writing sessions, students turn their ideas into powerful pieces of their own. From creative storytelling and poetry to persuasive essays, analytical responses, reports, and objective writing, learners strengthen their structure, voice, and clarity while building real-world communication skills. This class blends academic rigor with encouragement and support, creating a space where every student feels comfortable participating, asking questions, and growing at their own pace. Whether your teen already enjoys writing or is still building confidence, they’ll receive step-by-step guidance and meaningful feedback to help them succeed. Throughout the year, students will explore a wide variety of genres and skills, including: * Literary analysis and close reading * Critical thinking and discussion * Narrative and creative writing * Persuasive and opinion writing * Reports, reviews, and objective summaries * Grammar, organization, and clear communication Because this is an ongoing class, each week stands alone, so families can join anytime with no prior experience needed.
