Class Description

Age: 9-13 years old 45 minutes The internet is an amazing place to learn, play, and connect — and knowing how to stay safe makes it even better! In this fun and interactive one-time class, learners will build the knowledge and confidence they need to make smart choices online. Designed especially for ages 9–13, this class teaches practical, age-appropriate strategies to help kids recognize unsafe situations, protect their personal information, and navigate the web responsibly. Instead of relying only on parental controls, we empower learners with the skills to think critically and make safe decisions on their own. Through open discussions, real-life examples, and engaging activities, students will explore: * How to keep personal information private * Safe passwords and smart account habits * How to spot scams, suspicious messages, and unsafe websites * Kind and respectful online communication * What to do if something feels uncomfortable or unsafe Our classes are welcoming, discussion-based, and highly interactive. Every learner is encouraged to share ideas, ask questions, and practice problem-solving together. By the end of class, students will create their own personalized “Internet Safety Rules” checklist they can use at home. This class focuses on building awareness, confidence, and smart habits — helping kids stay safe while enjoying all the benefits the online world has to offer. Perfect for families who want their learners to feel prepared, informed, and empowered online! This class meets live online for one session, offering learners a focused and engaging learning experience in a single meeting. The session is held via Pencil Spaces, making it easy for families to join from anywhere. Pencil Spaces is used to post announcements, supply lists, and any helpful resources, as well as to support communication between learners, families, and the teacher before and after class, so everyone feels prepared and connected.
