Class Description
Age: 8-12 years old 50 minutes, 9 meetings Price: $101.25 Ready to dive into a world of magic, mystery, and unforgettable adventures? Join us for a Harry Potter book club where we bring the story to life through conversation, games, creative activities, and plenty of imagination! Each week, we'll explore approximately two chapters of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone together, discussing the characters, magical discoveries, surprising moments, and mysteries hidden throughout the story. Learners will have opportunities to share their thoughts, make predictions, ask questions, and hear how their fellow readers interpret the events unfolding in the wizarding world. But this book club is about more than just discussing what happens next! We'll mix reading and conversation with fun comprehension games, trivia, drawing, and other creative activities inspired by the story. Learners might sketch their favorite characters, design magical objects, explore character motivations, compare different perspectives, or put their detective skills to work making predictions about what comes next. Along the way, learners will practice reading comprehension, strengthen critical-thinking skills, and grow their confidence in expressing their ideas. There isn't just one way to interpret a story, and we love hearing the different ideas and connections each learner brings to the group! Our goal is to create a welcoming space where young readers can enjoy a favorite story, share their creativity, and connect with other book lovers. Whether your learner already knows the wizarding world by heart or is discovering it for the first time, there's room to join the adventure. Week 1: Introduction and discussion of Chapter 1 Week 2: Chapters 2–3 Week 3: Chapters 4–5 Week 4: Chapters 6–7 Week 5: Chapters 8–9 Week 6: Chapters 10–11 Week 7: Chapters 12–13 Week 8: Chapters 14–15 Week 9: Chapters 16–17 Come ready to read, imagine, create, and explore a little magic together! Book clubs meet live online once a week, providing learners with a consistent and engaging space to discuss their reading and share ideas. All sessions are held via Pencil Spaces, making it easy for families to join from anywhere. Reading assignments, project details, discussion questions, and helpful resources will be posted there as well. Pencil Spaces is also used for communication between learners, families, and the teacher, helping everyone stay connected and supported throughout the course.
