Class Description

Government • Critical Thinking • Citizenship Skills COMING SCHOOL YEAR 2026-27!!! Age: 11-15 years old 50 minutes 1 day per week In this engaging and interactive civics class, middle school learners explore how government works and how they can play an active role in their communities. Through discussion, hands-on projects, and real-world simulations, students move beyond memorizing facts to truly understanding how laws are created, how elections shape leadership, and how citizens’ voices can create meaningful change. Each week introduces a new, stand-alone topic, allowing families the flexibility to join for the full year or drop in for lessons that match their interests and schedules. Learners investigate different types of governments, examine the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, explore the three branches of government, and discover how court systems, political parties, and elections function. Along the way, students practice skills like debating issues, writing their own laws, evaluating real-life scenarios, and solving local community problems. Classes are welcoming, inclusive, and discussion-based, giving every learner space to share ideas, ask questions, and collaborate with peers. Whether they’re campaigning in a mock election, designing a petition, or exploring how civic engagement impacts everyday life, students experience civics as something active, relevant, and empowering. Our goal is simple: help learners become informed, thoughtful citizens who understand their rights, responsibilities, and ability to make a difference. Join us as we explore government from the inside out—and discover how every voice matters.
